Future Of CNG: Can CNG Vehicles Work In Nigeria?

With a projected $2.5 billion investment by 2027, the Presidential CNG Initiative is poised to drive Nigeria towards a sustainable and prosperous future, where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive.

Is this the journey towards a sustainable and prosperous future?

It is not very difficult to know what await the future of CNG innovations in Nigeria, and you don't have to be a prophet or a prophetess to know this. A Nigeria where there is not even enough electricity to power her people, a country where no refineries are functioning, and a place where does in power positions are only there for the national cake.

One prominent African speaker once said, " How can Africa power itself into space, when Africa can't even power its next neighbor". As per what is going on in the country today with the current administration of president Bola Ahmad Tinubu, with the rising cost of living, fuel price increase and now LPG gas, I don't think the Nigerian government is really ready for this big innovation, not just yet. We are not prepared for the implementation - no plans, no support and budget allocation for this. There is no budget set aside for the establishment of auto-gas stations across the 36 different states of the federation, including the F.C.T. 

Before we go more deeper, first off, we should give honour to whom honour is due to. INNOSON VEHICLE is really doing us proud, this car manufacturing company in Nigeria are doing wonders in terms of carbon free emission. They are the key player's in CNG and LNG vehicles in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. The latest project for CNG buses really made me believed in for a great Nigeria. INNOSON VEHICLE has been into the research of CNG innovations for a while now and the drive for success and really paid off. INNOSON VEHICLE is also known for their production of electric cars, vehicles. I call them the "TESLA OF AFRICA".

While all this is good, that won't be said on the side of the Nigeria government presently in power - and including the past administration. There haven't been any administrations in the past years that had ever shown support for companies that are in the production of gas-powered vehicles. Unlike in India and other developing countries, where government played crucial role. In a country like Nigeria, where we even import petroleum by-product such as LPG, because of no working refineries - and the one big so-called Messiah - the Dangote refinery is not yet in operation, one could say that the goal of zero carbon emission by 2030 is out of sight for Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.

Auto-gas stations is one way solution. Some auto-gas could offer different gas for sales at the moment, as auto-gas can be totally different from cooking gas. In case of emergency, these auto-gas stations can offer a refill.
