A regulator is a device that automatically controls speed, temperature or pressure. BBQ gas regulators regulate the pressure at which the gas is delivered from the gas bottle to the appliance being fuelled. BBQ gas regulators can be installed by means of an attached gas rubber hose, connected to the end of the hose to the regulator outlet, if necessary with the aid of soapy water. The rubber hose is then fasten using clamps. The hose clamps and the hose are of standards dimensions, in which the other end is then screw into the appliance inlet.
Regulators can fail if water condenses (freeze) inside. If you are traveling or camping overseas for a long periods and reliant on gas, it's wise to carry a spare regulator. The standard BBQ regulator type in the UK is a POL regulator, which has a male connector (reverse or left - handed thread) that fits into a POL valve on the gas cylinder bottle. Refilling UK POL propane tanks may not possible in European countries, unless you get the UK adapter kits, or a replacement quickly.
