How To Refill Your LPG Gas Cylinder Bottles Ghana

Are you planning for a visit to Ghana or a vacation close to Nigeria borders?
If you plan to remain settled in at the country ports across Nigeria borders for an extended period, you might as well want to check out these countries LPG gas delivery service. Some Africa countries reply exclusively on Butane (or sometime a mix that includes a minority of Propane). Just as in Nigeria, Ghana commercial LPG are sold as mixture of both Propane and Butane.

You recently moved into a new apartment in Accra and needed to set up a gas cylinder for your kitchen. Initially, you planned to buy a new cylinder and find a nearby place to fill it up. Then you wondered if there might be a more convenient service to handle gas refill in Ghana.

Your first step is to ask around. You will be surprise to discover several services that specialize in exactly this. If you're looking for a gas cylinder refill service in Accra, I did recommend the Swap'n'Go options for you to consider.

Here's how it works:

Some brand companies specialized in gas cylinder provide you with a branded cylinder. When you need a refill, they exchange your empty cylinder for a full one. The cost for a full 15kg cylinder is GHS 99.

Another important detail is that they require a deposit for their cylinder. If you already own a cylinder, they will take it as a deposit and return it when you stop using their service. If you don't have a cylinder initially, like me, they take a deposit of 15 cedis.

I highly recommend this option for several reasons.

Since LPG sold is as the same used by both the stove and auto, they also go the same with the gas regulator and appliance. Some British colonized countries uses the same valve, regulators and fittings. However, in Ghana, which is not a British colonized country, the case is actually different. Eventually, you may stumble across a pretty nifty adapters, and can now refill your Nigeria type gas cylinders at any gas station filling pumps. Most towns of any size seem to have at least on petrol station with mounted LPG gas skid dispenser. Or, you can basically make a special adapter with costume pigtail for gas transfer from one cylinder bottle to another. Click here: Pigtail fitting

It is easy and cheap, you can get the adapter from online vendors or gas shops, and connect to your Nigeria gas cylinder bottle valve fittings, leaving a free gas filling to load up with at the pump.

Unfortunately, the LPG skid fitting is not standard throughout Africa, but you can simply get another adapter. Another possible downside is that the fill may be 100% Butane gas, but not a mix Propane/Butane, or only Propane.

As LPG gas is becoming more common in Africa, the filling stations we'll be easier to find.
