The LPG gas hose is attached to the regulator on one end and the gas cylinder bottle on the other end, with a permanent piping outdoor. However, it can become damaged or deteriorate with age. To ensure correct operation of the flow limiting device during gas supply, the appliances hose length should be 1.5m at maximum. There are LPG hoses designed for home-use, and can be used on heaters, gas cookers and gas cylinder fittings. Remember, be careful not to make the LPG hose pipe too lengthy, very long, and often too long in size.
Make sure you inspect hose pipes regularly for damage. Dogs and other animals can also cause damage by chewing on the dangling hose. Usually inspect the hose for cracking, splitting or other damage. Use hoses that don't blend easily, because this can cut gas flow/supply and cause wear & tear. You should replace the hose if it shows any signs of damage or degradation. It is good practice to replace the entire regulator and hose assembly. If it is old enough, for the hose, it deteriorates, as regulators also wear & tear. In the event that the gas hose is damaged, or regulator malfunctions in any way, do not operate, until it is fixed and rectified by a quality service person.
To cut LPG hose, use a sharp kitchen knife to cut out the needed section. Be sure to make clean cuts, with no ragged edges. The safety way to do this is to fold the hose in to two side, and cut from the middle. This way is more better than to lay the hose on the ground. Cut the LPG hose where marked using a wire cutters or permanent marker, depends on what kind of LPG hose you have, a simple utility knife will do the trick. Avoid using a saw, as this won't make a clean cut.
Remember:
* Use suitable LPG hose for different type of regulators and LPG.
* Use strong and reliable hose that would last any pressure, heat and temperature.
* Use hoses that are hard to cut, pierce through with sharp objects.
Flexible and hard LPG hose will absorb the shock of sudden movement or jarring if the installation is accidental bumped or moved out of place. Without a good hose, the piping would be rigid, and more susceptible to leaks caused by movement. Regularly check the connected hose pipe for unobstructed venting. Be aware that insects, birds and animals can dent hoses in vent pipe.
