How To Avoid Overfilling Your Gas Canisters During A Refill

LPG gas canisters are now designed to be full while allowing 20% of space allowance for expansion of LPG. This is known as "Ullage" - for the natural expansion of the LPG (Propane or Butane). The Ullage design feature means there will be vapour space above to avoid excessive pressure where rise within the gas canisters. Overfilling is extremely likely with gas canisters. If you must refill a gas canister with/via an adapter, you need to be very careful to ensure the gas canister is not overfilled. When your gas canister gets exhausted, it is advised that you get a new one. Try as much as possible to avoid tank-to-tank refilling or through bonafide filling station with an adapter. There is a strong probability of leak occuring and gas canister being overfilled. This is highly dangerous and marked unlawful in some countries. If there is a slight leak of  gas, unknowingly to you, you reconnect it to your camping stove on the camp site, and lit it. This could cause a flame about 30 foot high erupted. Do not mess with LPG.
