What Are The Safety LPG Precautions To Follow At Home Or At LPG Refilling Sites

LPG is highly inflammable, very sensitive and must be stored away from source of Ignition or heat. Gas leaks can occur from faulty rubber or regulators, to substandard LPG accessories. This is why only hose and other equipment specifically designed for LPG should be used.
The first safety precaution before any other, is the storage of LPG gas cylinder bottles. Do not store the cylinder bottles indoor. The gas cylinders should be stored, used outdoor and just connected to the appliance being fuelled with a permanent piping.

Here are first-hand safety precautions for LPG usage at home or at LPG refilling sites:


LPG REFILLING SITES SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

1. Always have a fire extinguisher nearby.  When a gas leak is detected, close all the pipe valve and control/supply room.

2. Do not allow children near a gas plant operation. Cautions should be taken as children can be playful with object unknown to them.

3. Remember to close all pipe valves after operations for the day.

4. Always wear a complete safety kit, including nose cover, boots and others.

5. Be sure that the refilling nozzle gun is firmly closed after a refill. 

6. After or during a refill and you noticed a leak, go to the nearest exist safe with the LPG gas cylinder.

7. Do not allow any form of burning, such as bush burning, waste burning (plastics, pet bottles, paper, nylons e.t.c), fire woods or charcoal burning or any kind near a LPG gas refilling sites.

8. Place soap water in a liquid spray bottle at always closer to the LPG gas dispenser. It is a good idea to leave the spray bottle nearby, as this serve as a quick reminder to perform a gas leakage test.

9. If a fire incident occurs, extinguish all flames as quick as possible.

10. Do not allow use of cell phone near the LPG refilling sites, especially during a refill. Keep a caution sign to alert customers. 

11. Turn off all electrical switches if a situation of a gas leak occurs. 

12. Isolate main electrical supply and call for help.


LPG USAGE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AT HOME:

1. Keep windows and doors open to ventilate your kitchen.

2. Always have a fire extinguisher nearby, in a case of fire outbreak, extinguish all flames as fast as possible, or go to the nearest exist safe with the cylinder.

3. Check whether the sealing O-ring rubber is in place inside the cylinder valve, if not, do not use as this can result to a dangerous situation. Contact your distributor for replacement of gas cylinder bottles. Gas can escape from the cylinder valve that doesn't have the O-ring rubber inserted.

4. Do not place flammable or plastic items near the cooking space. Avoid setting up your kitchen space near source of Ignition. 

5. Never leave your cooking unattended.

6. Avoid using cell phones or other electronics during cooking with LPG gas.
