3 Causes Of LPG Gas Pump Filling System Failure - Refilling Issues And How To Solve

Have you try refilling a gas cylinder bottle, you notice gas movement from the nozzle gun hose, but the LPG gas is not flowing in to the gas cylinder? Many issues can result to this:

1. SEALING RUBBER

This can occur from a defective rubber tubing, one that connects the cylinder outlet to the valve. Gas can escape if the sealing rubber is not properly fixed. The sealing rubber (O-ring) also helps tighten the nozzel gun to the cylinder bottle valve. When refilling at LPG gas plants, there are two different O-ring rubber used for refilling. We have the "Cover-up" and the "Non Cover-up" sealing rubber. Most times, this problem occur with the "Cover-up" rubber, because they can block the hole of the nozzel and also prevent penetration, which the stops gas to pass through. To fix this, check your nozzle gun mouth to confirm the right rubber fitting. Change if necessary, then restart.

2. HIGH PRESSURE/TRAPPED AIR

LPG need to be filled under pressure. As soon as you open the cylinder valve, pressure drops and more liquid LPG evaporate from liquid to gas form.

When you start using LPG, some of the pressure in the container is released. However, some are also left out, hence it is needed to be released manually before a refill. This explains why gas movement stopped during a refill. The pressure in the LPG cylinder bottle varies, which is why as the gas skid operator, you need to release some pressure/trapped air before refilling any gas cylinder bottle. By doing this, it allows free flow and movement of LPG gas from the nozzle gun to the gas cylinder.

3. PRESSURE VALVE

LPG gas skid comes with a pressure valve. Pressure valve is much different from transfer valve, foot valve, excess flow valve and the rest. Pressure valve is used for controlling and to ensure steady supply at constant pessure. LPG gas skid pressure valve regulate and limit the pressure to suit the appliance that is being fuelled. In most cases where gas flow is low or doesn't move, it could be that the pressure valve is in "OFF" position. Now, there is only one way for the gas to flow through the pipes and reaches the supply pump. When the pressure valve is turn "ON", the pipes works as a chamber room  where it get gas released.

4. FAULTY BRASS VALVE

There is no fixed lifespan for gas cylinder brass valve. Sometimes they continue to give good service, and most times it can developed some mechanical trouble like getting stuck. Gas flow movement can get obstruct when a gas cylinder brass valve is faulty. Due to continuous fricition or use, it can get stuck, preventing the movement of gas to the cylinder bottle served. You need to install a new brass valve, as they cannot be repaired. To know how to replace cylinder bottles brass valve.

5. PURGING THE AIR

Inside of the cylinder must be eliminated of air. It should have some free expansion area for enabling gas inside of the cylinder. To do this, find a lite object to press down the ball point of the valve stem.
