Only skilled persons must work in a LPG retail shops using Tank-To-Tank method. All adapters, valves, hose pipes and regulators must be of approved quality, from authorized distributors only. Inspect the gas circuit each time you want to perform a tank-to-tank. Failure to follow these instructions with care could lead to serious health risks. Gas leaks may cause fatal fires or explosions.
It is mandatory as an operator that you comply with the regulations and standards in force in the country of use and check any specific directives covering its application. Failure to comply with the instructions provided, you will be held responsible for any consequent damage.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS TO BE KEPT BY THE OPERATOR
Read carefully before use:
1. Do not use a too short or too long hose pipe for a tank-to-tank refilling. Connect the hose if necessary with the aid of soapy water. Fasten the hose using clamps. Do not over-tighten to prevent damaging the hose (in some countries, the hose clamps and the hose are of standards dimensions).
2. Make sure the connecting pipe is correctly fitted to the consuming appliance. To ensure correct operation of the flow limiting device during gws supply, the appliance hose length should be 1.5m at maximum.
3. Do not stand cylinder bottles when refilling using tank-to-tank method. The gas cylinder must always be kept in an upside down position. This allows easy flow of gas to the consuming LPG cylinder. Do not use the cylinder bottle horizontally, as this can lead to cutting the gas flow.
4. Do not move the cylinder bottle during the operation. When the tank-to-tank is performed outdoor, it should be positioned or protected against direct penetration by sunlight or any source of ignition.
5. Tank-to-tank method should be perform in a we ventilated environment or surroundings, so in a case of gas leak, if it is outdoors, it usually just dissipates.
6. It is easy to recognize a gas leak due to its powerful odour. Always check the rubber tubes associated with your LPG cylinders. They should not be damaged or found to be leaking. All gas leak, however small, are dangerous and must be eliminated. Escaping gas can normally be traced by smell or sound, but liquid detergent should be brushed over the area to confirm the location of the leaks.
7. Never look for a leak with a naked flame. On cylinders, if a leak is suspected, turn off gas supply immediately, and extinguish any standing pilot lights or naked flames. Ventilate the room if possible. If the cylinder is indoors, move the cylinder outdoors to a safe place and call your dealer for advice.
8. The gas flow can be stopped by turning the regulator knob of the supplying cylinder a clockwise (or as shown on the regulator control) until it stops.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR EMERGENCY
Gas leaks may cause fires and explosions. If a smell of gas is noticed:
i. Do not use electrical devices or the telephone.
ii. Do not switch on household appliance.
iii. Call your supplier from a neighbor's telephone at once.
iv. If you are unable to contact your supplier, call the fire service.
After a successful tank-to-tank procedure, to transfer gas remaining in the hose pipe without wasting it out to prevent danger, just open the regulator valve of the supplying cylinder. Make sure the consuming or receiving cylinder bottle valve is closed. Then, lift the hose up so the gas can go back to the supplying cylinder bottle safely.
