I really don't get this battle between phone and cooking gas. Is the phone more dangerous than the fire that is burning on top of the gas cylinder? At least for those using camping gas.
Some people usually prepare their meals at night and early in the morning, and they make use of cell phone when electricity is not available at the moment.
For now, there have been no science studies or evidence to highlight on this point how can a phone connect to a gas cylinder or cooker to Explode.

I will advise and recommend that you put your cell phone always on flight mode while in the kitchen that what I do, or you get a small torch so to be on a safer side. Just buy torch light for your own good if you are afraid. In terms of radiation from cell phone, it is not advisable to take phone close to gas cylinder. Please, stop the use of phone in the kitchen. It is very dangerous while the gas is on. If not for anything else, it could cause distractions.
