Recently, I found myself needing to install a new burner on a new camping gas cylinder, and I thought I'd share my step-by-step DIY experience. It turned out to be easier than I expected, and here's how I did it:
Before anything, first thing first, make sure you read the user manual, usually attached with the package or written on the pack box. This easy to read instructions gives you everything, which ready made the process smoother.
And remember, safety first! What I did was to shut off the gas supply using the valve on the gas cylinder. This is very important to be sure there won't be gas flowing while you're working on the installation.
Next step is to remove the old burner, usually be turning anti-clockwise. Carefully disconnected the old burner from the gas cylinder. It required a bit of elbow grease, but it eventually came off. Remember to check for any signs of wear or damage on the old burner.
To install the burner to your gas cylinder, you need to give a tight seal to prevent leaks. For this, I wrapped a few layers of thread seal tape around the threads on the gas cylinder. This step is recommended for a secure connection. With the thread seal tape in place (if necessary), I screwed on the new burner. It fit snugly onto the gas cylinder threads. I then hand-tightened it.
Once the new burner was in place, turn the gas back on and checked for any leaks. A simple solution of soapy water applied to the connections will reveal bubbles where there might be a leak. No bubbles meant means no gas leaks.
After all is said and done, you should dispose the old burner responsibly. Then, that's it! Safety should always be the top priority.
