10 Safety Ways To Properly Handle, Store And Transport Gas Cylinder Bottles Anywhere

LPG gas cylinders are not dangerous if handled, used and stored correctly. However, gas cylinders can be dangerous if mishandled, stored improperly or used incorrectly. Here are important safety storage and transportation guidelines for LPG gas cylinders:

1. LPG gas cylinders should be stored always in a well ventilated space. Gas cylinders must be placed upright on a solid base so they can vent properly.

2. LPG gas cylinders should be stored and used outdoor. Don't store gas cylinders indoor, near any source of Ignition or exposed to heat such as sunlight or combustion materials.

3. Depending on the size of your gas cylinder bottles and cooking appliance type, make sure you don't store more than three (3) gas cylinders together in the same space. No more than two (2) LPG gas cylinders in your car when transporting them.

4. Avoid buying Fairly used gas cylinders. Always check for expiry dates of the LPG gas cylinders.

5. Keep gas cylinders safe from falling and impact. Do not move LPG gas cylinders during the operation. When the gas bottles are used outdoor, it shall be positioned or protected against penetration by any ticking water or direct sunlight.

6. Never store LPG gas cylinders on its side or upside down. If the gas cylinders uses regulator and hose, make sure to disconnect from the appliance after use and store outdoor in a safety place. Perform the soapy water test anytime you reconnect.

7. Always keep your LPG gas cylinders cool and away from source of fire, spark and heat. 

8. Do not use gas cylinder indoors. Using gas indoors may create  carbon-monoxide. Carbon-monoxide can make you dizzy, cause headaches or flu-like symptoms. Extended exposure can be fatal.

9. Do not used force to open or close the gas cylinder bottle regulator knob/valve. Always turn gas supply "off" by following user's manual. Leakages are mostly likely to occur at connection points such as the gas regulator valve or flexible hose pipe.

10. When transporting gas cylinder bottles, it should be securely stored an upright position at the car back boot, not in the passenger compartment.

11. When using LPG gas cylinders at home, make sure you keep the door and window open.

Because LPG is highly flammable, certain basic safety guidelines must be followed. LPG gas can leak and mix with air without notice. It has no smell, so proper care should be taken.
