How Can I Check The Gas Level In My Cylinder Using Digital Scale?

As discussed in previous article, the difference between the scale reading and the tare weight should indicate approximately the remaining LPG in a gas cylinder bottle. However, there is a catch. Even with the use of a digital scale, if don't know how to use it properly, you will always get an incorrect figure.

Here are few steps to follow to properly use a digital scale at home or at the LPG refilling site:

How To Use Digital Scale At LPG Refilling Sites.

1. Disconnect the hose pipe and regulator from the gas cylinder before placing on the digital scale. This is to prevent additional add-on.

2. Place the digital scale on a vertical position at plain level at a well aired place. This helps prevent the tare weight figure from flaunting during usage.

3. Install/fix in the refilling nozzle gun to the gas cylinder bottle through the gas cylinder valve. Make sure the nozzle gun is firmly attached to the gas cylinder valve.

4. Place the gas cylinder bottle with the refilling nozzle already attached on the digital scale.

5. TARE the figure as shown on the digital scale dashboard. Doing this will return an empting zero figure (0.00). 

6. Then start the refilling.

How To Use Digital Scale At Home

1. Disconnect the gas regulator or the single burner & valve from the gas cylinder.

2. Place the digital scale on a vertical position at plain level at a well aired place.

3. Make sure you check and know the total weight and tare weight of your gas cylinder bottles. The tare weight of gas cylinder bottles can also be found on the neck ring dimensions.

4. After refilling from the retailer shop or gas station, you can check to confirm on a digital scale the correct value in kg refilled in the gas cylinder bottle.

5. The valve of the tare (empty) weight plus the kg refilled, should give a total figure, which indicate if you were cheated or not.
