Why Must Gas Cylinder Bottles Have To Remain Upright In A Vertical Position Always?

Gas cylinder bottles must always be kept in vertical position always for safety reasons. Gas bottles have to remain upright at plain level at a well aired place. This is because gas cylinders filled 85% full, on upright position, this allows for expansion when the gas turns from liquid to gas, and also if the cylinder gets hot. Safety check valve is not intended to prevent overfilling of the gas bottle. The only way to prevent gas leaks is to have gas cylinder upright so it is easy a cut-off within the bottle itself. The cylinder bottle regulator is designed to stop gas escaping in case of accidental detachment or breakage.
Also, LPG is stored in steel container, tank and cylinder under pressure. The pressure inside the cylinder WILL depend on the type of LPG and the outside temperature. When you start using LPG, some of the pressure in the gas container is released. Some of the liquid LPG then boils to produce vapour. Inside the gas bottle, the LPG exists as liquid at the bottom, and gas vapour at the top. Keeping the bottle upright ensures vapour is not immersed and it is easily release to the atmosphere in an upright position.

Do not attempt to move gas bottles during operation. Don't bend or place horizontally, instead call for a refill. Most users/campers are fond of bending gas bottle when they realized LPG is in the lowest level. This practice is highly dangerous and can cause serious health risks.
